24 Children’s Author and Illustrator Websites That Delight

Last updated May 22, 2026

A great children’s author website has to juggle a lot.

It needs to delight kids, grab the attention of busy parents, and represent your book brand professionally. That’s a tall order, and it’s exactly why the best ones are so satisfying to look at.

My team at Rocket Expansion has designed 150+ author websites for everyone from debut authors to NYT and USA Today bestsellers. We know what separates the sites that work from the ones that just look cute.

That’s the high standard we held when we came up with these children’s author website examples. If you’re looking for inspiration, you’re in the right place.

1. Olive Green’s Website

What Olive Said About Working With Us

“We’re really happy with the website Rocket Expansion built for Olive Green Books. From the very beginning, the team was attentive and genuinely mindful of our vision, tone, and audience. They took the time to understand the world behind the books and translated it into a site that feels playful and easy to navigate. Both the mobile version and the desktop version are total hits! The design presents our books, characters, and activities in a clear and inviting way, without feeling cluttered. Communication was smooth and responsive throughout the whole process, and it always felt like they cared about getting the details right. We’re proud of the result and grateful to Rocket Expansion for helping bring our author site to life in such a thoughtful way. Highly recommend!”

First Impressions:

  • Uses gorgeous illustrations as icons and banners to immerse the visitor in the author’s world.
  • White space ensures the content is engaging and not overwhelming.

Playground meets professional with this next children’s author website.

This one is yet another creation by my team, and boy, did they have a fun time.

They went wild (pun intended), using their skills to weave the illustrations and vibrant colors into something creative and functional.

The amusement continues on the About and News sections, using cute sketches of the author and illustrator.

Find yummy extras like Rhymed Recipes, adorable Coloring Pages, adorable Characters, and a free activity booklet under Fun Learning.

Okay, it’s clear I can keep going on about this one, so I’ll leave it there!

2. Ms. Rachel’s Website

First Impressions:

  • Calming primary colors and rounded fonts appeal perfectly to her target audience.
  • Large typography and spacious sections make for easy navigation.

If you even know a toddler, you’ll be no stranger to Ms. Rachel.

She’s an internet sensation for all the right reasons — teaching kids online and helping their parents out in the same breath.

Which means her website needs to be super family-friendly and professional while still targeting parents with little ones.

Without a doubt, she accomplishes that.

Finding content is a breeze with her clear CTAs and big images that guide visitors seamlessly.

She understands parents don’t have a lot of time on their hands, so her content wastes no time getting you where you need to go.

Her education-focused brand is in the fine details on every page. I really like how she’s balanced it all.

3. Papimento’s Website

What Orly Said About Working With Us

“We had a great experience working with the team at Rocket Expansion. They designed a visually engaging website that brings to life the main character in our first children’s book, Papimento and the Chocolate Mountains, and captured the vision we had in mind. The team was responsive, attentive to details, and open to collaboration. We’re happy with the final result.”

First Impressions:

  • Perfect design for visitors with a sweet tooth (careful, it’ll cause chocolate cravings).
  • Charming, wintery imagery does a great job of conveying the book’s themes.

I’m actually really proud of this site because my team built it. And I know I’m not being biased.

Besides being enchanted, when you land on the homepage, you’re immersed in the book’s world.

Illustrations and atmosphere are soaked into every page. Each page is designed to give both the graphics and copy a chance to shine.

The fun doesn’t stop there either.

As with any good children’s author website, this one has treats under Resources, where you can explore the World of Chocolate, learn tasty recipes, and educate kids on Doing Good Together.

Plus, the author is working on her next book set somewhere else, really suiting the adventurous brand – so keep an eye out!

This site embodies exactly what you should get out of a kid-and-parent-friendly layout.

4. Eric Carle’s Website

First Impressions:

  • The use of his trademark illustrations, mainly the famous Hungry Caterpillar, fits in perfectly with the author’s books.
  • The choice to use watercolors instead of bright, in-your-face colors adds a calming element to the site and makes it feel easy to navigate.

Eric’s website does a wonderful job of using the right colors and fonts without being too overwhelming or in your face.

Something to learn from Eric’s site is to incorporate your beautiful illustrations where you can.

As a children’s author, you should make sure your artwork (and especially your book cover art) is eye-catching and engaging.

You can then use this on your website as well!

5. Little Morwenna’s Website

What Paul Said About Working With Us

“I chose Rocket Expansion after searching for website designers/developers that I thought could get the vibe I was going for with my horror alphabet book. From the very first meeting, I could tell that Matt and Sonja had the creativity and the vision to create the website I was dreaming of in my head but knew I could never create on my own…

They nailed it. They brought in the illustrations from my incredible illustrator in such a beautiful, artistic way, which preserved the gothic piece, but then added these really great, contemporary design elements that make it look like such huge publishing house threw a ton of money into a marketing campaign for my book. It’s GORGEOUS. They were amazing to work with. Response times were fantastic, both in communication and in site creation. Highest recommendation I can give.”

First Impressions:

  • Eerie and cute illustrations adorn every page, showcasing what you can look forward to (or dread) in the author’s work.
  • Copy and design make it clear that Little Morwenna is suitable for kids and adults, making the draw to this website unique.

Here’s another one designed by my team.

This website was designed to show off what happens when Paul Cuneo and Juno Abreu collaborate — we get the creepy, yet adorable, Little Morwenna.

But once you see the creative concept around the character and how it’s presented in website format, I think you’d agree.

Navigation is streamlined, so you can easily find the creation process, merch, character introductions, and printables.

This twist on a children’s author website is definitely one to see.

Got a unique concept for your own work? We can help you represent it online.

6. Beverly Cleary’s Website

First Impressions:

  • The cute illustrations carry a theme throughout, all complemented by the soft pastel tones of the color scheme.
  • A unique Characters page shows cool details as well as which books they appear in.

This children’s author website is such a great one for many reasons.

Definitely something children and adults alike will love!

The presence of the author is featured here and there, but the main focus is undoubtedly Beverly’s work and the books that allow her legacy to transcend time.

There are also some great inclusions for users to enjoy, such as the Fun & Games tab that has event kits and quizzes for users to print.

Overall, such a well-rounded website with a bit of everything!

7. Howie Groff’s Website

What Howie Said About Working With Us

“What a great experience. The whole team at Rocket Expansion demonstrated a level of concern and professionalism that was reassuring and encouraging throughout the whole process. I am extremely happy with the website they have created for my picture book series! Thank you, Team Rocket!”

First Impressions:

  • A whimsical intro focusing on gorgeous illustrations of the author’s main series.
  • Illustrations and vibrant colors maintain the playful atmosphere while showcasing the series and the author’s brand.

This is one of our more recent children’s author website projects, so the fun my team had with this one is still fresh!

And you can tell they had a ball with this one through the design elements, such as stacked copies on the Book page and swaying, hung portraits on the Home page and Character page.

There’s so much to venture out and find, like reviews, giveaways under News, fun activities, and a bunch of goodies from the author’s Study Programs.

All of these treats deepen the kids’ experience with the author’s books, adding layers — that’s why extras are a must for a children’s author website!

Want a site full of whimsy? My team can help! Get in touch, and I’ll help you figure out your next steps.

8. Dick King-Smith’s Website

First Impressions:

  • Lively intro with animated elements surrounding the illustration.
  • Cool extras like Did You Know, TV and Film, and Quiz serve as a time capsule for the author’s work, as well as entertaining information for kids and adults.

Dick King-Smith’s website shines with cute illustrations and animations.

It features a unique “day in the life” section and allows users to get to know more about the author on a personal level.

His daughter writes in detail about what would typically happen during his day from the thoughts that go through his head to what his wife cooks him for dinner, which is very wholesome.

This is complemented by some fun facts about Dick King-Smith and some old photographs on other pages.

9. Sprouting Sparks’ Website

What Shireen Said About Working With Us

“I couldn’t be happier with what the team at Rocket Expansion created for my author website. Working with them was easy and they captured my vision perfectly. The best part is the whole thing came together quickly, and it was a painless experience all around. I would definitely recommend them to others and use them again in the future.”

First Impressions:

  • Design and copy balance perfectly, tying financial literacy and children’s education into a neat bow.
  • Intro copy is a good representation of the book’s themes and leans on the cute illustrations and background drawings.

It’s never too late to start teaching kids about the world and its difficult aspects. And this website definitely does so in a tasteful way!

My team designed this one, and it was a tightrope, but we focused on showcasing the brand and the author’s voice.

Primary colors and a font style that mimics a child’s handwriting keep the site fresh and playful while displaying complex subject matter.

One of my favorite things about this website is the author’s dedication to her work. It honestly made designing this website such a joy.

Shireen, the author, encourages parents to follow her initiative on social media, also stating that 10% of profits go to non-profit organizations that help disadvantaged kids you can read her work knowing you’re also making a difference in the world!

10. Charlie Mackesy’s Website

First Impressions:

  • The most adorable animated intro video.
  • Each page and section is easy to navigate and find what you’re looking for.

My team and I are in love with the illustrations. Especially in the intro. I didn’t know moles could be that cute.

The books are front and center (after you watch the gorgeous intro), providing a focus on where the author wants you to go first, which is important for parents looking for his books.

After that, the focus shifts to Charlie’s works of art, including drawings, lithographs, sculptures, and paintings.

This site serves as a great example for illustrators who become authors (or the other way around, whichever works!), as it shows how to prioritize content and funnel your audience.

11. Miki Taylor’s Website

What Miki Said About Working With Us

“Rocket Expansion was a dream to work with. The team is fabtastic and the way they communicate with you during the build process is just phenomenal. I have my dream website and couldn’t be happier. I would highly recommend their services!!”

First Impressions:

  • The intro image is delightful to look at and lets the menu style shine. Little, colorful bubbles surround an adorable illustration!
  • Even though the colors are striking in nature, they create a calming effect that makes the user feel at ease and joyful.

Here’s another watercolor-themed website, and it’s designed by us, too!

I won’t lie, it’s a favorite with my team — and it’s garnered some attention, receiving nominations for its design.

Besides the wonderful colors and playful fonts, there’s lots of content to see, and it is all curated using the book series’ themes and characters.

For example, you can find an Interview With Bentley (the main character), adorable thematic extras under “Super Not-Boring Stuff,” and a sign-up page to join the characters’ “Dogtourage.”

To top it all off, there are paragraphs before you download an activity. There’s a mini story to help engage kids and give meaning to what would otherwise be simple coloring pages.

I love this website, not just because it’s gorgeous, but because it functions as an ecosystem for the author’s world.

If you like this design, get in touch, and I can see how my team can help you create something just as colorful and creative.

12. Coco Wyo’s Website

First Impressions:

  • Well-labeled menus and navigable pages enhance the e-commerce experience.
  • After the coloring book section, a satisfying video plays showing designs and how you can color them in.

Not all children’s books are the same, and therefore not all websites are either!

I wanted to add this one for those illustrators out there trying to sell their work.

This website is a great example of blending fun-loving design with e-commerce functionality.

Adorable illustrations punctuate each section as you explore, further tempting you to buy one of their gorgeous designs to color in yourself.

And product pages are full of useful information, videos, and images to let the consumer know exactly what they’re getting from their purchase.

They’ve kept the copy adult-and-kid-friendly; I’m sure plenty of adults own some of their coloring books — the designs are that fun.

13. Liliana Tommasini’s Website

What Liliana Said About Working With Us

“A big thank you to Rocket Expansion for the amazing work on my website! I absolutely love the new design—it beautifully captures the spirit of my children’s books. I’ve already received wonderful feedback from visitors. As a children’s author and book coach, I’m happy to recommend Rocket Expansion as a top choice for web design.”

First Impressions:

  • Adorable intro with illustrations from one of the author’s books, and concise copy showcasing why these books are impactful for children.
  • Gorgeous watercolors and design elements give off a gentle atmosphere that sparks joy and wonder.

Here’s another Rocket Expansion design.

Building this website wasn’t just about showcasing her work, but also her overall brand.

So, to honor Liliana’s background, we made it possible to view the entire website in French with ease.

Switch between English and French seamlessly by clicking at the top of each page!

What’s a children’s author website without some extras?

Under the Resources tab, kids can find some goodies like coloring and activity pages, a chocolate cookie recipe (yum!), and interactive sheets. That’ll keep ’em busy!

And if you keep exploring the site, you’ll discover a Press section highlighting Liliana’s achievements, a lovely About page, and a Visits page to find out more about booking the author for events.

Each page is a brand booster.

14. Stacy H. Lee’s Website

First Impressions:

  • Colorful design with quirky illustrations creates a dreamy, imaginative atmosphere.
  • Little animations here and there make the site feel lively and interactive.

For those children’s authors with a blend of YA and children’s lit, I thought I’d add this for you.

I love the stylistic choice of Stacey’s website, using illustrations as collages and energetic, ombré colors to capture attention.

Her fonts are large and adventurous, expertly delineating sections.

All of this works well to show off her brand.

And since the site is pretty bombastic, the navigation is simple and makes exploring enjoyable instead of overwhelming.

It’s a really stand-out design!

15. Kelly Starling Lyons’ Website

What Kelly Said About Working With Us

It has been a joy to work with Rocket Expansion. The team was friendly, creative, thoughtful and thorough. They talked through my vision for my site and brought it to life in such a lovely way.

I appreciated the open communication during the design process and the desire to make sure I was pleased with the results. I’m proud to share my redesigned website and have already recommended the excellent services to friends.

First Impressions:

  • Streamlined navigation that helps visitors easily explore a content-heavy site.
  • The website’s colors suit the author’s book covers and enhance her branding.

When designing Kelly’s website, my team wanted it to be eye-catching but content-focused.

The content has space to take center stage, and it quickly engages the user without overwhelming them!

We also put the characters atop the pages’ banners, which brings the site to life.

There’s also plenty to see and do on this website.

I especially love the Extras page with word searches, loads of coloring pages related to the books, and more activity sheets for kids to enjoy.

Curious how we go about website projects like this one?

Check out the details here.

16. Oliver JeffersWebsite

First Impressions:

  • Portfolio-esque layout with a clear flow of content and minimalist design.
  • Quirky fonts in the headings add flair to the personality of the site.

This website stands out from the others on this list because it feels more like a personal portfolio than a children’s author website — but not in a bad way.

I thought I’d show you what a children’s illustrator’s site could look like, and this example really pushes the creativity boundary wisely.

Let’s start off with the intro: a video showing the illustrator at work. Very personable and raw.

And as you scroll down, content is revealed to you, along with art pieces and copy that give you a glimpse into his world.

The illustrator lets the art speak for itself, so he doesn’t use a ton of copy. But when copy comes into play, it’s clear and action-driven, encouraging you to click and go where you need to.

And the cute little storm cloud animation when the site is loading is the cherry on top.

17. Chelsea Paulus’ Website

First Impressions:

  • Bright, bold design, kept streamlined by excellent use of white space to let the illustrations pop.
  • Unique section breaks and animations give the site that child-like feel.

Every element on this children’s author website is strong and vibrant, from the rounded fonts to the colors to the author’s voice and brand.

But with white space and clear division of sections, they don’t overshadow the content, but rather create a clearer picture of the author and her work.

Clear, engaging copy showcases the books, bringing you deeper into the author’s world. Her About page delves further into her backstory and author voice, allowing the visitor to get to know her.

Through her shop, you can get bookmarks and books — it’s not too in-your-face like an e-commerce site, but definitely easy to find in the menus.

Lastly, her School Visits tab is expansive and has plenty of details to make it easy to book the author and understand her services.

Chelsea’s website has a good mixture of components to ensure that the main focus is the books, and as you explore, you go deeper into her world.

18. Miss LoLisa’s Website

What LoLisa Said About Working With Us

Rocket Expanson is a professional, test-personal team of creators. Their ideas are amazing and how that take all your crazy ideas and make them work like clock, is a blessing.

The whole team greets your personally over zoom so you feel comfortable and included. They care what you think and welcome your feedback and all the silly questions you can ask! Could not be more pleased!!

First Impressions:

  • Warm, cozy colors set the atmosphere for this animal lover’s dream.
  • Clear copy and CTAs help guide visitor action as they browse.

If I had to pick three words to describe this site, it would be: the cat’s pajamas!

I’m not just saying that because my team designed it.

The author tells tales about tails, making the outdoorsy atmosphere the perfect stylistic choice.

It wasn’t hard making this site absolutely gorgeous, as the book illustrations made for cute icons and adornments to accompany you as you explored.

Charming illustrations, fonts, and activities (there’s a fruit pizza recipe and free stickers to download!) make this site all fluff and feathers in the best way imaginable.

If your book also creates that fluffy feeling inside your readers’ chests, we can help you bring that to life online.

Book a call with me, and let’s see how we can get the ball rolling.

19. Max Brailler’s Website

First Impressions:

  • Bright colors in the headings, links, and banners give the site a graphic-novel type of vibe.
  • The slideshow on the homepage reveals different books with their accompanying illustrations, making for an eye-grabbing intro.

Here’s an example for authors with slightly older children as their reader base.

Although the content is a bit mature and more suited for school children, the neon colors and blocky typography really ground the site in playfulness.

Not to mention the awesome illustrations and unique layouts that honestly remind me of comic strips and animated TV shows.

Which is no surprise, as you can find some TV show books, too.

And speaking of books, I think designing the book page with categories for the series at the top is a great way to help readers find what they’re looking for.

He has lots of books to get through, so sectioning them off is a clever move.

Explore for plenty of Fun Stuff, and a neat School Visits page with all the details you need.

20. Traci Swain’s Website

What Traci Said About Working With Us

“It was truly a pleasure working with all of you. You created the perfect website and made the process seamless. Your team was extremely skilled, professional, and went above and beyond. You most definitely exceeded my expectations. Thank you so much for helping me bring the Shark Stories characters to life. High fives all around!”

First Impressions:

  • Adorable illustrations and design elements that bring the aquatic theme to life.
  • Friendly website copy that maintains a welcoming, kid-friendly atmosphere.

Who knew sharks could be this cute?

If there were any designers scared of sharks, that was put aside when my team designed this one. Fears are immediately put at ease after seeing the author’s books.

Every page on this children’s author website continues this lovable aquatic adventure with illustrations of different sharks and underwater design elements.

Kids can entertain themselves with activities (there are too many to name!) and awesome character descriptions.

We had a shark-tacular time creating this utterly adorable website. Okay, I’ll see myself out.

21. Lydia Monks’ Website

First Impressions:

  • The author’s name is written as icons and drawings – adorable!
  • Bright and bold colours make the design shine.

The intro does an excellent job of showcasing the books written and illustrated by the author.

Adorable illustrations slide across the screen, large and easy to see, with book titles and intriguing angles. This is a great way to capture your audience’s attention and show them where to go next.

Exploring is fun and rewarding. Lydia’s About page is earnest and full of personality, and since she’s done a lot of work, she has a page dedicated to all her books if a parent wants to find more of her style.

22. Jennifer Ballow’s Website

What Jennifer Said About Working With Us

Rocket Expansion did a great job on my author website! It is beautiful and works well – they helped design it to go with my book, and it has the elements I was looking for. They were also very helpful in the maintenance aspect and were available to answer any questions I had in keeping the website active and making any changes. Thank you again!

First Impressions:

  • Adorable videos of the book’s characters greet you as you land on the homepage.
  • Dreamy nighttime colors accent the website, complemented by white space and playful fonts.

It was so fun creating Jennifer Ballow’s website.

The video intro isn’t just stunning, it also gives a glimpse into the world of the author’s featured book.

This is a great way of showing readers all the interesting stories they could experience with the book.

Of course, kids can enjoy bountiful extras like coloring pages, mazes, and word finds to keep them occupied and engaged in the author’s world.

Does this site spark inspo for your own website?

23. Sudha Murty’s Website

First Impressions:

  • Gorgeous illustrations embellish each page, grabbing the eye and warming the heart.
  • Filters on the book page help visitors find what they’re looking for.

Stunning animations like floating clouds, soaring birds, and a dog wagging its tail greet you when you land on Sudha’s children’s author website.

Little details like falling fruit and graphic borders make this site playful and entertaining to explore.

The bold typography and use of filters on the media and book pages keep things professional and navigable.

If you want style as well as substance, this website is a great example.

24. Pip Jones’ Website

First Impressions:

  • Easy-to-navigate, one-page site with clear sections.
  • Cool graphical elements like polaroids of people, books that look as if they’re on a table, and more.

For any authors wanting a one-page wonder – this is how you do it.

It’s comprehensive and professional while conveying all the messages she needs to on one page. Neat!

White space and simple backgrounds really help do the design justice, allowing the content to stand out and guide the visitor.

If you don’t have the time to make a multi-page website, this can definitely work with the right design.
